Missing the Princess

My girl has been gone since Sunday, she is at Disney World with her Grammy. My mom takes the kids on little trips by themselves, Bern got to go when he was 3, and last year went to Washington DC. We miss her lots, but she is having a blast. Apparently she has ridden the it's a small world ride 566 times. She calls it the dolly ride.

In order to get some extra bonding time in with Bernard, and to keep him from getting too sad about not getting to go on the trip, we have had activities planned everyday. On Sunday we took him swimming at the Rec Plex after church, and Monday was lunch and Chuck E Cheese's after school. Yesterday we (I use the term we very loosely) bounced around at Monkey Joe's. Then he got to help Daddy shovel the driveway (not fun when you are an adult, but a blast when you are 5) but Brian said all Bern did was throw snowballs at him. They came in all rosy and cold, so I whipped up some hot chocolate. I think today is going to be spent playing in the snow, and then I'm going to hope that school is back in session tomorrow.

On a happy note, I am feeling much better! The nausea is gone, and the sleepiness is starting to lift. I can now become a productive member of society again...at least until the 3rd trimester!

Random Stuff

Someone flagged my blog for objectional content, because I am so vulgar?? Ha, Brian thinks it's because of the picture of Bella holding her dress up, even though her dark tights hide anything. Maybe it's because I've been talking a lot about vomiting? Whatever it was I will not be censored! Freedom of speech, right?

In other news, I hit 12 weeks tomorrow!! I'm hoping to wake up to birds chirping, children singing, and no barfing. Our baby is starting to show itself, a bump is forming, and I can feel little movements here and there. Brian even felt a little last night while watching a PBS show, as right now our bunny ears are only picking up channels 5,9, and 11. PBS wins almost every time, because how often can you watch law and order? We have tried the converter box, but right now it's not picking up channel 9 which is an absolute necessity with children in the house. Secretly, I too enjoy Word Girl. Sometimes I laugh harder than Bern.

We had a lovely weather day today (for January) and I sent the munchkins to the backyard for a good hour. Brian calls it getting their heebies out, I call it happy hour. Bern needs to keep busy in order to stay out of trouble, so winter time can be difficult for everyone. It was nice to have a break in the weather.

I saw my OB today, and am almost officially in the safe zone. Baby's heartbeat sounded good, and everything appeared normal. Problem is one of my dearest friends who was due about a week after me did not make it out of the safe zone, and we are feeling sad for them. I tried to imagine what it would be like to go to a normal visit and not get a heartbeat, and it's too much to even imagine. I know that I ask for prayer a lot here, but would you please pray for my friend?

On a much a lighter note, Bella is a flower girl in February and today we tried out all the components to make sure every thing fit/worked. I'm glad we did because her sash is way too big, and her shoes are a different shade than the dress. The same shoes that I've already paid shipping on twice because the first pair didn't fit. Boo.

Fashion Tips by Bella

1.You can mix patterns, polka dots, stripes, and solids as long as they are all pink.
2. It doesn't matter if the shades of pink differ, in fact, varying shades of pink create color contrast that is interesting to the eye.
3. It is good to accessorize with stuffed animals.

Wardrobe info: Striped hello kitty shirt, Macy's. Tiered ruffle skirt, hand-me-down from Gymboree. Polka dot pants, The Children's Place. Tiger, gift from Bern's friend Jack.

Crazy Dreams

Probably due to the fact that my cousin Stacy had her baby yesterday (welcome to the world Charlie!) I had a birthing dream last night. I dreamt I arrived at the hospital with contractions two minutes apart, and huffed and puffed for a while, then I looked down and saw my current belly, and realized I was only 10 weeks pregnant. I was embarrassed, told the nurses that the baby was not ready yet, and left. I stopped at the local pizza joint (Ami's) on my way home and had dinner. So that is what I'm thinking about these days, birthing and eating.

Snow Day

But where is the snow? It would be helpful if Brian and I could figure out this snow day stuff BEFORE we drive Bern to school, especially since his school is 15 minutes away. In our defense, it looked like we had some rain last night, nothing icy around our house but apparently the roads were bad. Twinkle toe's dance class is cancelled as well. The question is, do I go to the gym and exercise, or do I lay around and be lazy?

If you are the praying type, would you please pray for my friend? She is going through a messy separation, and right now her children are being kept from her by her husband. Please pray that there is a quick and timely custody resolution today, and that the children are protected. Also, a friend of the family/someone we went to school with was hurt very badly in a construction accident on New Year's Eve. A concrete wall fell and crushed him and he is in ICU at SLU hospital. Please pray for healing, and for his family (he has 2 children). Thanks friends!

Happy New Year

I hope that all of you had a great New Year's, and that 2009 brings many blessings to your family. We rung in the New Year by watching Horton Hears a Who while eating nachos on the couch (huge treat to eat dinner in front of the TV). Then we went to bed early, but were awakened by the fireworks at midnight. Side note: I despise fireworks, unless they are being set off by professionals. I hate, hate, hate when they are being set off by my neighbor's 13 year-old son, at ridiculous hours of the night. It makes me a wee bit crabby. I had a whole post written in my head about my hatred of fireworks, but toned it down a bit as to not turn off any of my beloved readers who might actually enjoy fireworks being set off 5 feet from their house.

Anyway, it was a very relaxing evening/day, my dear husband even vacuumed the house for me, plus I snoozed for 2 hours. If the roles were reversed, and Brian was the pregnant one, I don't think I would be quite so good to him. I think I'd use a bit of tough love, and be more like "Your laying down AGAIN? Seriously, get up and get something done lazybones"! Or something like that. Luckily he is much nicer than me.

I'm excited to see what this year will bring for my family. Bernie will be starting kindergarten full time, Bella will be starting preschool part-time, and someone special will be arriving in August. My resolution this year is to lose some weight (ha ha, just kidding), the real resolution is to be a more patient mommy, to yell less and to play more. I'll keep you updated on how I'm doing.
